9 Institutions Agreed to Build IDSN

 Nine government agencies, the Department of Public Works, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Environment, National Land Agency, BPS, Department of Land and Mapping and Banten province BAKOSURTANAL, agreed to build the Geo-Data Infrastructure National Spatial, in accordance with the Loan Agreement between the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Government of Indonesia. Agreement between the nine institutions made in the Office of the Vice President of RI, Istana Merdeka Jakarta, on Monday, June 25, 2007.

The signing of this agreement is to coincide with the opening of the Coordination Meeting of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (IDSN) 2007. Meetings held for the sixth time it is opened directly by Vice President Jusuf Kalla. Also present at the opening of the Minister of Communications and Informatics, M. Noah, Head BAKOSURTANAL, Rudolf W. Matindas, and other invited guests.

In his opening address, Jusuf Kalla asked government agencies to coordinate each other in managing spatial data, which can be used by other agencies in development.

Spatial data generated by several government agencies have not dinilainya optimally utilized by other institutions. Therefore, strong coordination is needed in the utilization of inter-data, since spatial data are needed to support the ongoing development of government.

Jusuf Kalla hope with a strong coordination inter-government, the institution's ability to be able to use more spatial data increases. Thus, it is expected that data can be optimally utilized to overcome the existing problems.

In the same place, Rudolf W. Matindas, Head BAKOSURTANAL, believes 80 percent of decision-making and national development policies need data and information Terrestrial. IDSN coordination through this forum, geoinformasi Indonesian society, both in government and private sector, realizing that no one sector can walk alone for provision, management, and utilization of data and information on earth.
