Cibinong, Geospatial News - The capability level of the Government Internal Supervisory Agency (APIP) Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) reached level 3 with improvements (scale 1-5). The assessment conducted by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) considers six elements, namely roles and services; HR management; professional practice; accountability and performance management; culture and organizational relations; and governance structure.
"BPKP's recommendations have been followed up by BIG in an effort to improve the capabilities of BIG APIP. In addition, BIG has also implemented strategic steps to increase its capabilities, "BIG Inspector Habib Subagio said at the Park Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
Habib explained, the measurement of APIP capability level 3 was carried out by answering 151 questions related to the six elements of APIP capability assessment. In addition, the Inspectorate of BIG also conducted an independent assessment of its capabilities and was validated for the suitability and completeness of its supporting documents.
On this occasion, Chief Secretary of BIG Muhtadi Ganda Sutrisna said that the assessment conducted by BPKP was necessary to improve the capabilities of APIP in order to realize effective and efficient internal supervision. "BIG is committed to continuing to improve to realize good governance, including the capability of APIP and the maturity of SPIP (Government Internal Control System)," he said.
The role of internal supervision, continued Ganda, needs to be improved in encouraging improvement in the performance of the Institute. However, this must be accompanied by an increase in the quality of human resources (HR), strengthening the system and budget, and supervision.
Various efforts made by BIG to improve governance have resulted in a number of proud achievements. Among them are very satisfying grades (AA) for archival oversight, an index of public service delivery which is considered very good (A), and the first best predicate for the management of the Legal Information Documentation Network (JDIH) at the Non-Ministry Government Institution (LPNK) level.
Meanwhile, Director of Social Supervision and Disaster Handling of BPKP Soemitro explained that increasing the capabilities of APIP needed the support and commitment of the leadership of the institution. "The better the capability of APIP, the better the accountability of the institution's financial management," he said.
The role of BPKP in maintaining APIP's capabilities is by verifying the elements being assessed. In this case, BPKP evaluates the self-assessment conducted by the BIG Inspectorate.
For information, the capabilities of APIP Level 3 illustrate that APIP is able to assess the efficiency, economic effects of an activity, and is able to provide consultation on governance, risk management, and internal control. (NIN)
