Bandung, Geospatial News - Located at the Aryaduta Hotel, the Center for Rupabumi Mapping and Spatial Planning (PPRT) Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) held the "Toponym Study of the Central Region of West Java Province" which was held in Bandung on 28 October - 2 November 2019. The event was attended by 56 participants who were district/city verifiers from districts/cities in West Java.
Starting the event, Harry Ferdiansyah as the Head of BIG Toponyms in his remarks explained that this event was held to produce a list of verified toponyms until they were ready to be standardized in accordance with BIG Head's Regulation Number 6 the Year 2017 Concerning the Implementation of Topographical Name Standardization.
Participants who were attended were guided to operate the SAKTI Application (Indonesian Toponym Data Acquisition System) which is a mobile and webGIS-based application developed by the Geospatial Information Agency. SAKTI itself aims to facilitate data collection, analysis, and standardization of topographic names in Indonesia. Data uploaded through SAKTI will be owned by BIG as an institution that has the authority to standardize topographical names.
Present at the toponym presentation was Heru Santoso from the Ministry of Home Affairs with the title "Institutional, Policy and Urgency Budgeting for Toponym Activities, Harry Ferdiansyah from BIG gave a presentation on" Reviewing Topographical Names ", Prof. Cece Sobarna as a dose of Padjadjaran University who explained "The Importance of History in Toponymy Studies" and Prof. Multamia Retno Mayekti Tawangsih Lauder from the University of Indonesia, who explained "Toponymy Management".
