Cibinong, Geospatial News - The Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) commemorates the 2019 Geospatial Information Day and celebrates its 50th anniversary. This year's commemoration was given the theme of Geospatial Information for a better Indonesia.
As the climax of the 2019 Geospatial Information Day (HIG) as well as the 50th Anniversary of the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), all employees in the BIG environment held a flag ceremony on Thursday (10/17/2019) in the main square of the BIG office, Cibinong, Bogor.
The ceremony was presided over directly by the Chief of BIG as the organizer of the ceremony. In his message, Prof. Hasanuddin Z. Abidin advised continuing to affirm BIG's commitment in organizing geospatial information (IG) which refers to one standard, one reference, one geodatabase, and one geoportal, in order to support the implementation of Indonesia's development.
"In accordance with the mandate of the IG Law, BIG is committed to improving the quality of IG data and accelerating the provision of large-scale baselines in the framework of national development and supporting the continuation of the one map policy in accordance with government policy," Hasanuddin stressed.
Hasanuddin also reminded to continue to improve the quality of human resources, carry out bureaucratic reform in order to realize good governance, mutual respect and respect for fellow BIG employees to improve BIG's performance and achievements and the adoption of the US 5 motto (Hard Work, Smart Work, Mawas, Completed Work and Sincere Work).
Judging from its history, October 17 was designated a Geospatial Information Day because on the same date in 1969 the National Survey and Mapping Coordinating Board (Bakosurtanal) was formed as a government agency that had the task of organizing geospatial information in Indonesia and was the forerunner to BIG.
The commemoration of the 2019 HIG and 50th BIG Anniversary commences in August 2019. Activities undertaken include national exhibitions, sports competitions, social services, the launch of a geospatial information system, the Bhumandala Award, and art performances.
Finally, the BIG Chief wishes Happy 2019 Geospatial Information Day and BIG 50th Birthday. (LNR)
