?BIG Promotes IG on Bumi Nyiur Melambai

Manado, Geospatial News - The Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) holds a Geospatial Information Dissemination (IG) at Bumi Nyiur Melambai, Manado, North Sulawesi. The activity of the collaboration between BIG and House of Representatives Commission VII took the theme of 'Affirmation of Territorial Boundaries for Inventory of Natural Resources Potential.'

"BIG is a partner of the House of Representatives Commission VII. Hopefully this event can improve BIG's performance and increase public understanding of the benefits of IG, "said House Commission VII member Bara Krishna Hasibuan Walewangko while giving a speech at the Manado State Polytechnic (Polimdo), Thursday, February 28, 2019.

Bara explained, currently BG has an important task to coordinate the One Map Policy (KSP). In addition, BIG also has the role of providing spatial data to determine and integrate development sites across sectors.

"I deliberately chose the Manado State Polytechnic to do this activity. As one of the best tertiary institutions in North Sulawesi, I hope that Polindo can implement this technology (red-IG) to be developed, "said Bara.

Meanwhile, BIG Batoro Wisnu, Head of the Large-Scale Earth Mapping Division, said that the fields of study related to BIG are geography and geodesy. He really hopes that in the future more and more people are interested in learning geography or geodesy, so that there are more and more surveyors in Indonesia.

"Not many people know that at this time Indonesia needs a lot of surveyors to support development projects that are being promoted, both by the government and the private sector. In fact, there are still many people who are unfamiliar with this profession, including students, "he said.

According to Batoro, the lack of surveyors in Indonesia is due to the lack of information obtained by the public. It is BIG's job to socialize it. Considering the large number of BIG tasks, dissemination is needed so that the functions and products of BIG are known to all levels of society.

For the data sharing process, continued Batoro, BIG currently has an Integrated Geospatial Information Service (PTIG). This service can make it easier for the public, ministries / institutions, local governments, educational institutions, and the private sector to obtain geospatial products and services.

"There are three types of services at PTIG, namely product purchasing services, consulting services, and education and training services," concluded Batoro. (HH / NIN)
