India geospatial market in 2006-07 stood at $132 M: Research & Markets

DUBLIN, Ireland - (Business Wire) Research and Markets has announced the release of their survey report "Indian Geospatial Industry Survey 2008". According to the report, the total outflow of the overall geospatial market in India stood at Rs. 5900 million (approx. $132) in 2006-07. This included the expenditure on acquiring data, hardware and software, as well as availing of the plethora of value added services offered by various service providers. While Rs 3974 million (approx $89 million) was spent in acquiring data and availing various GIS services, expenses on software and hardware amounted to Rs. 484 million (approx. $11 million) and Rs 1442 million (approx. $ 32 million), respectively.

The geospatial industry outlook of the report informs that industry in India consists of the development and sale of GIS data, hardware, software, and services to various industry verticals like defence, urban planning, land records, natural resources, utilities and others.
