Market research company IDC has published a report entitled, The Most Interesting ISVs in China Market 2007-2008. The report examines 20 Chinese companies that IDC considers ‘fast-growing ISVs [Independent Software Vendors]'.
It forecasts growth for these companies over the next 2 years. Beijing-based GIS software provider, SuperMap (formerly SuperMap GIS Technologies), is ranked 2nd.
Commenting on the IT market in China, IDC China market analyst, Emily Bian said that international vendors tended to focus on large-scale enterprises operating in the mid- and high-end of the market. The advantage for local software vendors, according to Bian, lies with China's small and medium-sized businesses or in industry-specific markets.
However, the trend is changing. ‘Nowadays, we can see more and more advanced local software providers achieving great success in the mid- and high-markets. Competition is becoming more and more furious,' said Bian.
‘IDC thinks the local solution providers in our profile are important accelerators in China's IT market development.'
