Undip FPIK Register Study Group Deepens Geospatial Knowledge at BIG

Cibinong, Geospatial News - In the industrial era 4.0, it is not only hard skill intelligence, but soft skill intelligence also needs to be sharpened, especially by students who incidentally are the future generation of the nation.

This is the background of 44 female students who are members of the Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System Technology Research (REGISTER) Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) Dipenogoro University Semarang, for a study visit to the Geospatial Information Agency office Wednesday (23 / 10).

Head of the BIG Promotion and Cooperation Research Center Dr. Ir Wiwin Ambarwulan M.Sc who immediately received the visit said that currently one of the main competencies needed in the professional world, especially in the geospatial field is the application of scalable and targeted science, currently students are not it only has to be equipped with a high GPA, but also the ability to deal with issues that will later be faced in the world of work.

"At present the surveyor world is very lacking in human resources, therefore the opportunities of the younger siblings of the students are very broad in scope, not only to become employees but can also become an entrepreneur, for that in addition to the high GPA the ability of soft skills must also be increased" Wiwin said in his remarks Building C, BIG Promotion and Cooperation Research Center.

In line with wiwin representatives of the FPIK Undip, the Register study group said that one of their goals in coming to BIG was to deepen their knowledge, especially regarding geospatial science.

"We came here wanting to explore geospatial science which is something that is important to be known by us, especially students from maritime affairs and others," he said.

In the visit which took place since 1 o'clock in the afternoon, the students got various materials from experts who were in the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG).

Call it material about Marine and Coastal Environment delivered by Lufti Rangga Saputra S.T, Disaster Mapping by Reni Mujiandari S.T, M.T and Geographic Information Systems by the Head of BIG Nursugi Research Division ST.

The activity of receiving visits from universities, secondary schools, elementary schools to overseas education institutions is one of the efforts to introduce and socialize the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) to the community.

Aside from being a promotional and socializing event, this visit is expected to be able to provide more benefits to the general public regarding the function and role of Geospatial Information, for daily life in the community. (/ AR)
