Jakarta, Geospatial News - Located at the Le Meridien Hotel in Jakarta, the Rupabumi Mapping and Spatial Planning Center (PPRT) of the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) held the "Toponym Review of Regency / City Level Areas of West Java Province" which was held on 23-27 September 2019. The event was attended by 58 participants who were district/city verifiers from districts/cities in West Java.
Harry Ferdiansyah as the Head of BIG Toponyms in his remarks explained that this event was held to produce a list of verified toponyms until they were ready to be standardized in accordance with BIG Head's Regulation Number 6 Year 2017 Concerning the Implementation of Topographic Name Standardization.
At the event, participants were explained about the SAKTI Application (Indonesian Toponym Data Acquisition System) which is a mobile and webGIS-based application developed by the Geospatial Information Agency. SAKTI itself aims to facilitate data collection, analysis, and standardization of topographic names in Indonesia. Data uploaded through SAKTI will be owned by BIG as an institution that has the authority to standardize topographical names.
Present at the toponym presentation was Heru Santoso from the Ministry of Home Affairs with the title "Institutional, Policy and Urgency Budgeting for Toponym Activities, Harry Ferdiansyah from BIG gave a presentation on" Reviewing Topographical Names ", T. Bachtiar as Sundanese Culture" The Importance of History in Toponimi Studies "and Multamia Retno Mayekti Tawangsih Lauder from the University of Indonesia, who explained "Toponymy Management". (ATM)
