Sleman, BIG Geospatial News - After successfully organizing Geospatial Information Dissemination (IG) in Bantul District some time ago, now the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) has again held IG Dissemination in Yogyakarta Province, specifically in Sleman Regency. Still in the form of cooperation with partners in the Indonesian Parliament, this event was attended by Agus Sulistiyanto, Member of the House of Representatives Commission VII.
At the beginning of the event, Antonius Bambang Wijanarto, Head of the BIG Geodesy and Geodynamics Control Network Center gave a prologue about the geospatial terminology to the people of Sleman.

Furthermore, in the direction of the House of Representatives Commission VII member Agus Sulistiyono said that BIG, which was originally the National Survey and Mapping Agency (Bakosurtanal), was an agency mandated by Law IG No. 4 of 2011 to provide basic maps throughout Indonesia.
"Before the birth of BIG, the Indonesian state did not have a basic map that became a reference in the preparation of maps by ministries or other institutions. In realizing the mandate, a large budget is needed, so that the House of Representatives Commission VII is always fighting for the budget to be developed. said Agus
Entering the main event, which is the presentation related to the Need of Control Nets as a Reference Map Making by the Head of the Gravity and Tidal Control Nets, Marsono Julianto. BIG is the LPNK that reports directly to the president. BIG mapped mainly base maps in the form of RBI of various scales, LPI and LLN maps, boundary maps as well as geodetic and geodynamic control nets as connective points and Indonesian geospatial reference systems for mapping in Indonesia. According to him geospatial information is a basic need in the development of an area, therefore it is very important for the Indonesian people to maintain the existing geospatial information infrastructure in the surrounding environment
