Ambon, Geospatial News - Geospatial Information Dissemination (IG) series organized by the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) in collaboration with Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has entered the middle of March in 2019. It has been held around 20 times IG dissemination in various regions throughout Indonesia. On this occasion, the dissemination activity visited Ambon City, or sometimes spelled as Ambong, in Maluku Province.
Dissemination is held on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at the Hotel Santika Premiere Ambon. Approximately 150 students had filled the event space that day. The students who participated were those who were going to do a Real Work Lecture (KKN) this year. The theme raised was "Joint Synergy to Create One Map". At 09.00 CET, the event began by singing Indonesia Raya.
As invited guests were present the Chancellor of the Indonesian Christian University of Maluku (UKIM), Jafet Damamain. Jafet expressed his gratitude to the organizers for inviting UKIM students to take part in today's activities. It is hoped that the knowledge gained from BIG can become a provision in the service of the community during the Community Service Program. "I also don't really know what geospatial is, but I am happy to be involved in this activity and can learn more about geospatial. Thanks also to BIG for giving UKIM an opportunity to take part in valuable activities. I hope that students can take advantage of this activity to absorb as much information as possible, "he told the participants.
The event then continued with remarks from BIG, represented by Tri Patma Sari, Widyaiswara Utama BIG. Sari revealed that all participants who attended this had utilized IG in their daily lives through the maps on their mobile phones. "BIG is responsible for making maps or geospatial data and information in Indonesia, especially with the existence of Law Number 4 of 2011 concerning IG", he said. Data and IG are very important and strategic role in helping national development, including spatial planning. The failure of Indonesia's spatial planning has the potential to cause conflict.
Sari revealed that BIG is currently under coordination with the Ministry of National Development Planning of the Republic of Indonesia / National Development Planning Agency (Kemen. PPN / Bappenas). Thus the direction of national development is not only based on statistical data, but also spatial data. "Without spatial data, there will be overlapping data. Investors when opening land for agriculture and so on need a map. It is obligatory to use IG BIG data, "Sari explained.
In 2019, BIG turns 50. There have been many BIG achievements, especially for mapping the territory of Indonesia have been completed 100% with varying scale. In addition, BIG has also launched the KSP portal at the end of 2018. Regarding this KSP, BIG is working with many K / L in Indonesia to organize 85 thematic map themes. Some of the efforts undertaken by BIG to continue to improve its performance include: improving coordination of mapping activities, improving the quality and quantity of data and IG, building institutional capacity and increasing human resources, as well as working with various domestic and private universities in Indonesia.
Connecting then are a few words from Commission VII of the Indonesian Parliament by Mercy Chriesty Barend. It was revealed that there would be an explosion in population and global warming (global warming) in this world in the future. "If it is not regulated in relation to spatial planning from now on, conflict in Indonesia will occur, especially in Ambon as an archipelago. There are a lot of resources in Ambon, but they have not been fully utilized, "he said.
Mercy also stated that at this time it was very important to understand what geospatial was. "Later when the younger siblings go down to do KKN, it can help create a Spatial-based Village Information System," he said. This is important because it relates to the mapping of village resources. The goal is that the existing village funds can be put to good use, in the context of developing a strategic village area.
With the Spatial-based Village Information System encourages villages to have a share in the regional or central government related to spatial planning. The village government can determine what programs are suitable for the region. In addition, BIG also provides a geospatial portal that can be accessed. It is hoped that UKIM can also work together with BIG regarding the development of GIs in Maluku, so that more and more people, the next generation of the nation who understand the use of IG.
After that the event continued with a exposure session, which was previously preceded by a one map video playback. The moderator for this session was Didik Mardiyanto, BIG Thematic Mapping and Thematic Integration Center (PPIT) Staff. While the guest speaker is Dr. B.J. Pratondo, PPIT BIG Staff. Pratondo explained about BIG's profile, main tasks and functions. In addition Pratondo also explained the One Map Policy (KSP).
Tondo revealed that almost all students refer data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). "What's the difference with geospatial data? If the geospatial data, we know the location, coordinates, place. In statistics, there is no location data, only numbers. So spatial functions are very related to spatial location, "he explained. Tondo students also explained that geospatial data can be collected at BIG's geospatial portal which can be accessed at: tanahair.indonesia.go.id. Then explained the BIG Organizational Structure, the organization of GIs in Indonesia, the organization of Basic GIs, Thematic IGs, National Network and Institutional Nodes, National Geoportals, and IG human resources.
Regarding KSP, Pratondo explained that this KSP was born with the hope that data overlaps would not occur in Indonesia. The benefits of the IG and KSP Law are as follows: Single Reference for the Integrity of IG in Indonesia; Guarantee Availability and Accountable IG Access; Achieve IG Use and Success Through Collaboration, Coordination, Integration, and Synchronization; Encouraging the Use of IG in Government and Community Life. "Stages of KSP Implementation Activities consist of: compilation, integration, and synchronization", he explained.
Then at the end of the material a question and answer discussion session was held. Participants who dare to ask or answer questions from resource persons are entitled to interesting BIG souvenirs. In addition, this event also held an exhibition of BIG products, in the form of geospatial books. With this dissemination, it is expected that the knowledge of the younger generation in Ambon City can increase and in the future can use more IG in their daily lives. (LR / DA)
