?IG to Support Malang City Development

Malang, Geospatial News - Continuing the dissemination of information on geospatial information (IG) in various regions in Indonesia, the Geospatial Information Agency cooperates with the board members of the House of Representatives Commission VII, Ir. H. M. Ridwan Hisjam, held IG dissemination in apple city, Malang. The theme in the IG dissemination activity this time was "Utilization of Geospatial Information to Support Regional Development".

The IG dissemination participants in Malang this time consisted of various elements of society in the area around the city of Malang. Some come from the elements of youth organizations, retired officers, and housewives. This is in line with the mandate of Law No.4 of 2011 concerning IG as stated in Chapter II, Article 3, "encouraging the use of IG in the administration of government and in various aspects of community life".

Present to represent the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), Head of the Center for Geospatial Information Management and Dissemination (PPIG), Dr.Ing. Khafid along with the team. While from the city of Malang, also took the time to be present in the midst of the participants, Deputy Mayor (Mayor) of the city of Malang, Ir. H.A Sofyan Edi Jarwoko.

In his remarks, Mayor of Malang City welcomed the team from BIG and all participants present. The Vice Mayor also said that in Malang city government environment, IG was something very important and strategic. "Currently, practically, in the city of Malang IG has been used in the management of spatial planning, the name of the application is simpetaru. So if you want to know information about land, what is the use of it can be seen from this simpetaru application, "explained the Vice Mayor.

Using communicative Javanese language, the Vice Mayor also said "with IG technology now, certain locations can be seen from satellites, can be seen where my home is, what coordinates are, how broad, and even if it is then combined with land data information, ownership information so that the price of land in that location is known to the public. "

Ending his remarks, the Vice Mayor hoped that a good opportunity in the form of dissemination such as that held by BIG in Malang should be taken by the participants for their knowledge and benefits.

Then in his speech. Head of PPIG Center, Dr. Ing Khafid also expressed his gratitude for the remarks given by the host, in this case the Vice Mayor along with his staff, and of course all IG dissemination participants who could be present from morning until noon today.

Continuing his remarks, Khafid briefly introduced what BIG and IG were, "at this time we say that we almost always use maps to support our daily mobility, in our cellphones we can be sure that there are applications that use maps as a means of assistance. Call it if we want to travel, then we will use the application to search for motorcycle taxi online, even now if for example we want to eat and are lazy to travel or queue, then we can also order food with the application. Now ladies and gentlemen, those applications use maps. While IG is simply that map. And what was exemplified was only one of the benefits of the IG. Furthermore IG can be used to support development in an area, disaster evacuation, etc. ", Khafid said.

In his direction later, Ridwan Hisjam said that commission VII had a historical closeness to BIG, and had an interest in making this IG known to all Indonesian people, not only those in the city, but also those in the regions, even in remote areas of the country though.

Entering the afternoon, the event continued with the exposure session, appearing as the moderator of the event was Agus Subagya, BIG's senior staff, and as the resource person for the first material, Dr.Ing again appeared. Khafid presented material on 'Introduction to IG', while the second material with the theme 'IG for Regional Development', featured Widyaiswara Utama BIG, Ir. Tri Patma Sari, M.Sc.

During the presentation session, participants seemed to follow the event in an orderly manner and paid serious attention to what was presented by the speakers from BIG. Even in the discussion session, it was seen how ignorance of the public about the IG was answered straightforwardly by the presenters who performed optimally during the IG dissemination event.
