Ciomas, Geospatial News - The Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) in collaboration with the House of Representatives Commission VII held a Geospatial Information Dissemination (IG) in Ciomas, Bogor, West Java. IG Dissemination with the theme 'Utilization and Safeguarding of Geospatial Information Assets and Data in Supporting Development in Regions' aims to increase public awareness about IG.

"Basically, regional development is inseparable from Geospatial Information. Starting from spatial planning within an area, to determining village boundaries. On this occasion, I ask all people present to make the best use of this opportunity to gain as much knowledge as possible, "said House of Representatives Commission VII member Nawafie Saleh in his remarks at Joglo Blora Mustika House, Ciomas, Bogor, Thursday, 7 March 2019 .

Meanwhile, Head of the General and Financial Bureau of BIG Ali Nor Hidayat explained BIG related to the public who still lay with IG. This was done so that people more easily know IG.

"One example of BIG products is maps. This map can be used to plan development, "he explained before 300 residents and representatives of Ciomas District community leaders.

Utilization and Security of Assets

At the IG Dissemination panel discussion was also held with the guest speaker of the Head of BIG Finance Section Cecep Hamdani. He explained related to the use and security of assets.

According to Cecep, a country must have an area with clear boundaries. In fact, there are still many boundary conflicts at the district / provincial level.

"BIG does not have the authority to determine the boundaries of an area. However, the base map made by BIG can help the community reach an agreement relating to the determination of boundaries, as well as helping local governments plan regional spatial development, "said Cecep.

Regarding the use and security of assets, BIG has stakes or pillars in making base maps. "Through this socialization, we hope that the public understands the existence of the stake and is not arbitrary towards BIG assets which means the property of the State," he added.

The next material was delivered by BIG Treasury Subdivision Head Slamet Turseno. He explained that BIG is a Non-Ministry Government Institution (LPMK) that reports directly to the President.

"BIG products include the NKRI Map, the Beach Environment Map, the Indonesian Rupa Earth Map (RBI), and other maps which certainly contain information related to earth in an area," said Slamet.

The event was closed with a discussion session and the distribution of maps of the Bogor Regency area to the participants. (EV / LR / NIN)
