The Royal Jogja Sand Dunes Geospatial Run 2019

Along with the increasing public awareness about the importance of healthy living, running has now developed into an urban lifestyle. Running is one sport that can be said to be simple and inexpensive because it only has energy, but has many health benefits. Running running can also be done by anyone, men, women, adults and children.

Seeing this, the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) in collaboration with Kraton Jogjakarta held a running competition titled 'The Royal Jogja Sand Dunes Geospatial Run 2019' in the framework of Geospatial Information Day 2019 and coincided with the BIG 50 years of age in 2019, and as a step to introduce the beauty of tourism locations in Indonesia. This event is located in Gumuk Pasir and the edge of Parangtritis Beach, Jogjakarta which will be held on 6 October 2019. The Royal Jogja Sand Dunes Geospatial Run 2019 event will offer the first unique running sensation in Indonesia where participants will try out an unusual running field that is running on the Parangtritis Beach sand dune.

Parangtritis Sand Dune is the only largest sand dune in Southeast Asia. The Parangtritis Beach area has large sand dunes located in the Parang Kusumo beach area called Gumuk Pasir Parang Kusumo (Gumuk means Sand Hill; Sand means Sand). This unique natural phenomenon must also be widely promoted to inform new tourist destinations that are worth visiting while in Jogjakarta, for tourists both domestic and foreign, also to be able to maintain the sandbanks will always be a unique natural phenomenon.

"Not just cheerfulness, through this running competition, we also want to invite people to always implement a healthy lifestyle, balanced and full of enthusiasm," said the Head.

He added, "As the body responsible for mapping all regions of Indonesia, this running competition has become our place to introduce BIG's gait to the public. We are sure there are still many who do not know BIG's progress, for this reason we want to get closer to the community, that we have been present for 50 years in Indonesia. The Royal Jogja Sand Dunes Geospatial Run 2019 event also received support and appreciation from stakeholders, including Kraton Jogjakata. This event has already received the blessing of Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, considering that Sand Dune is a land owned by the Palace of Jogjakarta (Sultan Ground). For information, the 'The Royal Jogja Sand Dunes Geospatial Run 2019' event is a running competition that presents its uniqueness with the 80% asphalt / cement road running through the roads and village roads around Parangtritis, and other routes passing the beach and sand dunes and Cypress hall with 3 competition categories, namely 6K, 10K and 21K. The registration itself has been opened since April until the end of August 2019, which can be done online at the website http://sanddunesrun.id/. The registration fee itself is Rp. 250,000 (6K): Rp. 350,000 (10K) and Rp. 500,000 (21 K who will also get a finisher shirt). "The Royal Jogja Sand Dunes Geospatial Run 2019" which has a target of 5,000 participants is part of The Royal Jogja Running series which is planned to be held several times a year in several places in Jogjakarta. This year is planned in the city (central part) and in Gumuk Pasir (southern part). The following year is expected to be held in the north (Mount Merapi) and other places in Jogjakarta.

Regarding Geospatial Information Agency

Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) was born to replace the National Survey and Mapping Coordinating Board (BAKOSURTANAL) as the mandatory harvest of article 22 of Law Number 4 of 2011 concerning Geospatial Information (IG). This law was approved by the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia on April 15, 2011 and passed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, on April 21, 2011. The birth of BIG was marked by the signing of Presidential Regulation No. 94 of 2011 concerning Geospatial Information Agency on December 27, 2011 .

Based on Chapter XI Article 69 of the Law on Geospatial Information which is then further elaborated into Transitional Provisions of Chapter VII Article 40 of the Presidential Regulation on Geospatial Information Agencies, it is stated that the field of tasks related to geospatial information will continue to be carried out by BAKOSURTANAL until the completion of the BIG organizational arrangement.
