Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) agreed on the latest Indonesian National Qualification Framework (KKNI) in the field of geospatial information (IG) in the Consensus of IQF. The agreement was carried out through a panel discussion between the National Professional Certification Board (BNSP), the National Accreditation Committee (KAN), the Ministry of Manpower, Professional Certification Institutions (LSP) in the IG field and academics from several universities in Indonesia.
The IQF agreement was the final stage of the IG field review. This activity aims to standardize the Indonesian National Qualification Framework Design (RKKNI) in the IG sector to gain recognition and legality. The results of the IG KKNI Consensus will be a basis for revising BIG Head Regulation No. 7 of 2017 concerning Work Competence in the IG Field.
"Changes to IG work competency standards are needed because technology in mapping activities continues to develop. We must accommodate these things so that IG HR competencies in Indonesia can compete at the international level, "explained BIG Geospatial Information Infrastructure Deputy Adi Rusmanto at the opening of the KKNI Consensus in Bogor, March 3, 2020.
The IG professional certification process in the field of IG has been started since 2007. Until now the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) in the IG field have been established based on the Decree of the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia Number 95 of 2017 and implemented through BIG Head Regulation Number 7 of the Year 2017 about Work Competencies in the IG Field.
"When we want to compete in the international world, what is needed is a competency standard that is equivalent to that in other countries. KKNI is the beginning of certification, "said KAN Assessor Donny Purnomo.
On the same occasion, the Head of BIG, Hasanuddin Zainal Abidin, advised that IG BIG's human resource (HR) competency certification should lead to a certification that accommodates the use of new technology as one of its competencies.
"The development of IG is very fast so that the consensus of the IQF in the IG field must also be accelerated so that we don't lag. If it is necessary to agree with the existing one, other developments can go ahead, "Hasan asked.
This acceleration is also needed to meet the increasing needs of IG human resources. BIG programs and the National Priority Program further require several human resources that are not small.
"Therefore, the formation of IG human resources must be done quickly and with quality through the adjustment of IG education curricula whose graduates are equivalent to certain SKKNI levels," Hasan said. (MAD)
