BIG Deploy Fast Response Team (SRC) to Map Disaster Affected Areas in Bogor Regency

Bogor, Geospatial News - Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) immediately deployed the Rapid Reaction Unit (SRC) Team to map the location of flood and landslide disasters that occurred in Bogor in early 2020. The map produced by the SRC team will later be useful for post-disaster recovery planning.

"Rapid mapping and its analysis are expected to provide an overview of the actual conditions on the affected areas. It will show the extent of the impacts and losses caused. The map produced by the SRC Team is a reference for government planning for post-disaster planning," said Ferari Pinem, Division Head of Disaster Mapping and Climate Change Mapping in Cibinong, Bogor, Thursday, January 9, 2019.

According to Ferari, the SRC Team did not work alone. Before heading to the field, they had previously coordinated with several related parties, including the Bogor Regency Government and the Bogor Regency's Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

"The SRC BIG team departed on Wednesday, January 8, 2020. They used the UAV to do a rapid mapping in the Village of Nanggung, District of Nanggung, Bogor Regency," he explained.

Flying 100 meters above the ground, the UAV used by the SRC BIG Team flew up to six times to get an overall picture of the affected area.

For information, Banar Village in Nanggung Subdistrict, Bogor District - disappeared due to being swept away by flash floods and landslides on Wednesday, January 1, 2019. The government has evacuated all residents.

Until now, access to the area at an altitude of 650 meters is still difficult for vehicles to pass because landslides cover it. Road access is vital to be able to distribute aid to disaster sites. (AR/NIN/MAD).
