IPB Marine Student Learn IG on BIG

Cibinong, Geospatial News - A total of 69 students of the Department of Marine Science and Technology Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) visited the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) on Wednesday, November 27, 2019. The visit aims to broaden students' insights about mapping, especially those related to science and technology marine.

Head of the BIG Research, Promotion, and Cooperation Center Wiwin Ambarwulan explained BIG's duties in accordance with Law No. 4 of 2011 on Geospatial Information (IG) are responsible for the administration of GIs in Indonesia.

"Indonesia is a large and vast country, especially the sea with a ratio of two-thirds compared to the land. The vast Indonesian sea must be mapped for many purposes. Therefore, BIG also maps the seas with maps of LLN (National Marine Environment) and LPI (Indonesian Coastal Environment) ), "He said.

The students also got material related to BIG's profile by BIG Promotion and Cooperation Field staff Achmad Faisal Nurghani who also served as a tour guide. In addition, there were also presentations from Lufti Rangga Saputra, the Nugroho Purwono Research and Development Center, and Rupabumi Mapping Center staff and Toponym Septin Mulatsih Rezki.
