BIG Promotes Research Innovation through ICOIRS 2019

Bandung, Geospatial News - In accordance with the Mandate of Law No. 4 of 2011 regarding the implementation of Geospatial Information, the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) as the only government agency that organizes Geospatial Information (IG) activities performs one of its functions, namely to disseminate information about the benefits and roles IG in social life.

In the series of the 2019 International Conferences of Indonesian Society for Remote Sensing (ICOIRS) which took place at the Bandung National Institute of Technology, (Itenas) September 17-20 2019. The theme of "The Revolution of Earth Observation for a Better Human Life" BIG introduced the results research innovations that have been carried out in the near future.

On the second day of the 2019 ICOIRS event series, BIG held an exhibition of the results of the flagship center of innovation (PUI), which was conducted by the Geospatial Information Agency Research Section.

Arya, one of the students from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), revealed that with the exhibition introducing the benefits and objectives of BIG, he could get to know more about what BIG is and its functions and duties.

"With this exhibition, I am more familiar with what the functions and tasks of BIG are," he said.

He also hopes that the socialization of BIG's tasks and functions will continue to be carried out intensively, especially to the general public, most of whom are still unfamiliar with the terms earth and spatial.

In addition to presenting the Center for Geospatial Science and Technology Excellence, today the Field of Research also conducts Geomatics and Scientific Meetings, which are attended by earth science experts from various countries.

In his remarks the Head of the Promotion and Cooperation Research Center Dr. Ir Wiwin Ambarwulan expressed his appreciation for the implementation of this activity, he revealed this was a good thing especially for researchers in adding their insights about spatial science.

"I am very happy and very appreciative of the implementation of this activity, this is a good thing to develop themselves both for BIG researchers or other employees, so they can share their experiences and knowledge, especially in earth science (Earth Science). Wiwin said.

Present as a guest speaker in this activity, national and international experts from earth science including Prof. Li ZHANG, Prof. LIAO Jingjuan, Riffat Mahmood and Muhammad Dita Farel, Deni Suwardhi and Agung Budi Harto. (/ AR)
