Cibinong, Geospatial News - Map of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) is always changing. The territory of the Indonesian state shifts when confirming the boundaries of villages / villages, sub-districts, districts / cities, provinces, and even borders with neighboring countries.
Toponymy and the shape of the face of the earth can also change due to natural disasters. Therefore, the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) is always updating Geospatial Information (IG) in the form of the Indonesian Earth Map (RBI).
"Updating the NKRI Map is one of the many tasks mandated by BIG since it was reformed from the National Survey and Mapping Coordinating Board (Bakosurtanal) in 2012. Currently, BIG's main task is to carry out a basic map and several thematic maps as well as the dissemination of Geospatial Information. However, that does not mean that the task is easy because Indonesia is a very large country, "said Head of Promotion and Cooperation of BIG Sri Lestari Munajati, when receiving a participant visit from Raflesia Junior High School Depok in the BIG Office, Cibinong, Bogor, Tuesday, February 13, 2019.
As many as 45 students accompanied by two teachers attended BIG in the context of an educational visit for Social Sciences (IPS) subjects. The students intend to know the process of making maps and their use in everyday life.
"We are very grateful for BIG's welcome and acceptance. This visit is a routine visit every year, "said Adrian Gunawan, a school representative.
Meeting the participant's request, BIG's technical team provides exposure according to their respective expertise. The map and how to make it and its application in daily life were presented by representatives from the Center for Mapping the Earth and Toponym (PPRT).
Meanwhile, maps and atlases to support Indonesian education were explained by representatives of the Center for Spatial Mapping and Atlas (PTRA). The final material is how to access and use Ina-Geoportal from representatives of the IG Management and Dissemination Center (PPIG). (UPI / NIN)
