Introduction of IG in Disaster for Geography Teachers in Bandar Lampung

Bandar Lampung, Geospatial News - Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) in collaboration with the Geography Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) University of Lampung (Unila) held a Geospatial Roadshow. In this activity, geography teachers who are members of the Bandar Lampung Geography Subject Teacher (MGMP) Consultation and students of the Geography Education Study Program get information on Geospatial Information (IG).

This Geospatial Roadshow takes the theme 'Geospatial Information and Disasters'. This theme is related to the Sunda Strait tsunami some time ago which also hit Lampung.

"BIG is a non-ministerial institution responsible for IG management in Indonesia. It becomes BIG's obligation to carry out dissemination or outreach related to IG to various groups. Especially in the framework of the Geospatial Roadshow, the target audience is future educators and prospective educators. This is a strategic effort to introduce IG, "BIG Wiwin Ambarwulan's Head of the Research, Promotion and Cooperation Center said in his address at the FKIP Unila Hall, Bandar Lampung, Friday, February 8, 2019.

Wiwin also said that currently Unila and BIG have a partnership in the form of Spatial Data Infrastructure Development Center (PPIDS) in the Unila FKIP Geography Education Study Program. The existence of PPIDS must be utilized as well as possible by all parties.

"PPIDS can be called BIG's representative in the region. BIG cooperates with various state universities in almost all of Indonesia to cut the distance and time in organizing IG in the regions. One of them is in handling disasters, "he said.

Responding to this, Unila Rector Hasriadi Mat Akin said that his party welcomed the Geospatial Roadshow that was initiated by BIG. Various literacy is needed to support the implementation of development, so we need human resources who are ready and qualified.

"In addition to research, we also try to produce workers who can be prepared for geospatial. Together with lecturers and students, we also share with the government for disaster," he said.

The Geospatial Roadshow which was attended by 150 participants was then followed by a session of material presentation by BIG Inspector Sugeng Priyadi. After the main material, a panel discussion was carried out by presenting three speakers, namely the Head of Thematic Integration Mapping Center Lien Rosalina who delivered the handling of IG disaster and rapid reaction; Unila Abdurahman lecturer who is a disaster researcher; and Wiwin Ambarwulan with the material on the role of PPIDS in organizing IG in Lampung. This panel discussion was guided by the Head of Promotion and Cooperation of BIG Sri Lestari Munajati. (DA / NIN).
