?Utilization of GIs for Regional Development

Lumajang, Geospatial News - Local and national governments are expected to be able to utilize Geospatial Information (IG) in development planning. This is in line with the One Map Policy (KSP) launched by President Joko Widodo in December last year.

"KSP is based on one reference, one standard, one database, and one geoportal to accelerate the implementation of national development accurately and on target," said House Commission VII member Bambang Haryadi in his remarks during IG Dissemination with the theme of Utilizing Geospatial Information to Support Regional Development Accurately and Accurately at the Klakah Village Hall, Lumajang, East Java, Wednesday, February 20, 2019.

In his presentation, the Head of the Planning, Personnel and Legal Bureau Ibnu Sofian explained the understanding and role of the IG in development planning, both on a national and regional scale. According to him, the IG can avoid potential negative impacts if the data in an area is incomplete and not standard.

"Geospatial information that displays accurate and accountable maps is very useful for preparing Spatial Detail Plans or regional RDTRs. The reason is that inaccurate maps can overlap ownership and control of land, thus potentially triggering social conflict," Ibnu said.

Meanwhile, Head of Toponym for BIG M. Fifik explained the role of data and IG in accelerating regional development. "Various maps which are IG instruments are often out of sync between ministries / institutions, causing problems for the process of sharing data. Therefore, a One Map Policy is needed which functions as a reference map in planning development, "he said.

The IG also provided a question and answer session. The participants were very enthusiastic about asking the speakers. In closing, giving souvenirs to Members of Commission VII and a group photo. (MS / NIN)
