?One Geospatial Reference in Tanah Wajo

Wajo, Geospatial News - As a government agency mandated by Law No. 4 of 2011 in guiding geospatial information users as contained in Article 57 paragraph 4, the Geospatial Information Agency continues to provide socialization throughout Indonesia to socialize the existence of geospatial information and its possible use by the wider community.

On Saturday (23/2), the Geospatial Information Agency and the Republic of Indonesia's House of Representatives Commission VII work partners visited Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi. Carrying the title One Geospatial Reference to Support the Implementation of Regional Development, the event was attended by various levels of society domiciled in Wajo Regency who had been previously invited. On this occasion BIG was represented by the Geodesy and Geodynamic Control Net Center and the House of Representatives Commission VII was represented by Dr. Ir. Hj. Andi Yuliani Paris, M.Sc.

At the beginning of the event, the Head of the Geodesy and Geodynamic Control Net Center, Antonius Wijanarko, welcomed the BIG representative. In his remarks, Anton said BIG must be quite foreign to the people of Wajo Regency and no contribution was imagined from this agency. Not surprisingly, BIG is quite foreign to the public, but it is certain that the role of BIG in daily life, even national development, is crucial.

"BIG is responsible directly to the President of Indonesia, Ladies and Gentlemen. Geospatial information is a basic requirement in the development of an area. Geospatial information presented to users must have the same standard, accuracy and reference (one single reference). still confused with the understanding of geospatial information, maybe simply put "Maps" Anton said.

In addition, Anton also said that now regional development must be based on the principles of HITS (Holistic, Integrative, Thematic, and Spatial), so that the absolute need for geospatial information is non-negotiable. IG development which is directed to answer the need for complete program completion (Holistic), involving the participation of K / L / P and the Community (Integrative), according to priority (Thematic) in a particular location (spatial). So that community participation is very important in the success of government work programs.

On the next occasion, Andi Yuliani Paris said that the people of Wajo Regency must be smart. Not only the officials are smart, but also the people, so that information from the central government can be evenly received by the community. Andi Yuliani mentioned that BIG is an important institution for its existence.

"This Geospatial Information Agency is very important, sir. If there is no colleagues from BIG, we will not have a map. The land that is present will not be issued if the Ministry of ATR / BPN does not have a map from BIG. "This BIG can map anywhere in Wajo Regency which is potential for disasters and the maps produced by BIG can be used by the entire community for free, so we must be proud to have this agency in Indonesia," concluded Andi Yuliani while opening the Dissemination of Geospatial Information the.

Then there was a presentation session on material related to Geospatial Reference Data Utilization in South Sulawesi by the Head of the Horizontal and Vetical Control Net Network of the Geodesy and Geodynamics Control Network BIG, Joni Efendi and continued with a question and answer session.

It is hoped that by holding this event, it will be able to provide insight into what geopasial information is and BIG's role in organizing useful information for the wider community, especially the people of Wajo Regency. (RB)
