Sriwijaya State Polytechnic Students Visit BIG

Cibinong, Geospatial News - A total of 42 Sriwijaya State Polytechnic students visited the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG). They intend to broaden their horizons related to Geospatial Information (IG).

"After this visit, I hope that students will get more knowledge about IG and later be able to work at BIG," said the supervisor when giving a speech at the BIG Office, Cibinong, Bogor, Monday, February 11, 2019.

Dozens of students were received by Luciana Retno from the Research, Promotion and Cooperation Center (PPKS) as representatives of BIG. On this occasion, he also explained about BIG.

"BIG is a government agency mandated by Law Number. 4 of 2011 concerning IG as IG organizer in Indonesia, "Retno said.

This Sriwijaya State Polytechnic student also received material from the staff of the Center for Mapping the Earth and Toponym (PPRT) Maratun Sholihah. He explained the process of making the RBI Map.

"The four main tasks of PPRT are aerial photography and radar; small scale mapping; medium and large; toponym; and high-resolution upright satellite imagery, "explained Maratun.

The next material was delivered by the Head of Human Resources and Industrial Development Division IG Sumaryonto. He explained about certification.

"All graduates who are related to geospatial and want to work at BIG must have special certification to prove that the person is capable of working in the IG field," he explained.

Meanwhile, IG Management and Dissemination Center staff Yudha Serya Nugroho discussed the use of technology in the dissemination of IG. Map publication technology has been done via webgis and geoportal.

"Academics and the public are expected to be able to blend in with IG, namely with Our Map. This application contains a lot of information about IG. There is also Ina-Geoportal which was built with the participation of various ministries and institutions and local governments in Indonesia, "explained Yudha.

The visit ended with the practice of stereo plotting and group photos. (GN / NIN)
