?IG Dissemination with DPR-RI in Pekan Baru Riau

Pekanbaru, Geospatial News - Hundreds of Pekanbaru students and residents enthusiastically participated in the Geospatial Information Dissemination (IG) held by the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) with the House of Representatives Commission VII. This dissemination aims to provide clear information related to IG to young intellectuals and the people of Pekanbaru.

"Regional mapping is very important to be carried out from the village level up to the state level. The mapping conducted by BIG is a guideline for all government institutions, both from the local government to the central government," said House Commission VII member Sayed Abubakar A. Assegaf (SAA) in his remarks at Fox Hotel Harris, Pekanbaru, Riau, Tuesday, February 26, 2019.

In addition, continued SAA, regional mapping is very important because it becomes information for regional potential, especially for regional autonomy. The One Map Policy (KSP) that was just launched by President Joko Widodo last December must be known to the public, because it covers spatial planning, territorial boundaries, as well as its potential.

Moreover, Indonesia's territory is vast and directly borders with 10 countries. "We need to protect the potential of the outer islands. This can be done with an accurate map capital," said SAA.

Meanwhile, Tri Patmasari as BIG's representative in his remarks conveyed, his party was ready to provide information related to mapping the land and sea areas of Indonesia to all citizens for various purposes. "It is BIG's job to make the territorial planning of the Republic of Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke," he said.

According to Patmasari, IGs commonly referred to as maps are very necessary for planning and accelerating development. In addition, it is also to reduce the incidence of boundary and social conflicts.

"This is in line with the KSP initiated by President Soesilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and then continued by President Joko Widodo. The main purpose of KSP is to overcome licensing overlaps, "he explained.

BIG's task is not only that, but also provides spatial assistance to local governments. This assistance is needed to accelerate spatial mapping in areas that are often constrained by the availability of basic maps and human resources in the IG field.

On this occasion, BIG also held a mini exhibition that featured various IG-related products, such as maps, books, magazines and calendars. The products are distributed free of charge to the dissemination participants. (YI / DA / NIN)
