Indonesia Airborne Gravity Survey 2010

Thursday, July 29, 2010, accompanied by the Act Deputy of Spatial Data Infrastructure, Poentodewo, and the Head of Center for Geodesy and Geodinamics, Cecep Subarya, the Head of Bakosurtanal, Asep Karsidi, conducted the inspection activities for Indonesia Airborne Gravity Survey 2010 in Pontianak.

The Indonesia Airborne Gravity Survey 2010 was conducted by the Center for Geodesy and Geodinamics of Bakosurtanal cooperation with the Ministry of the Danish Technical University (DTU). The location of this year's survey was conducted in two places, Kalimantan and around Sorong, West Papua.

This activity was held as the acceleration in the process of collecting data of gravity for each region in Indonesia. This gravity survey was carried out over the air (by plane) because it requires a very long time with ground surveys. Gravity data from this survey can be used for geoid determination in Indonesia.

In his tour of duty, the Head of Bakosurtanal got some explanations about the activities conducted by the gravity survey team coordinator, Adolfientje Kasenda. Besides, Asep Karsidi also obtained the information about the technical basic principles of airborne gravity survey by the survey team.

After the inspection, Asep Karsidi took his time to visit the Continuous GPS Stations in Pontianak (CPON) run by BAKOSURTANAL, which is used as a reference point in this suvei.
