National Disaster Management Agency has prepared a treatment plan or disaster management. The plan will be implemented based on risk assessment and disaster vulnerability.
Deputy Disaster Prevention and Preparedness National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Sugeng Triutomo explains, research and assessment of disaster occurrence in some areas and then prepared for disaster risk index and index of disaster vulnerability. Disaster vulnerability index should be a reference for local governments are classified as hazardous for mitigation and evacuation plans, and build community awareness and preparedness to reduce and cope with the emergence of certain disaster in the region.
To compile the vulnerability index of disasters in the district or city in Indonesia used incidence data from 2002 to 2007. Disaster is the reference in the preparation of the index, among others, forest fires or land, floods, earthquakes and tsunamis, flash floods and landslides.
From research conducted so far with the involvement of relevant institutions in mind there are 175 districts / cities that have high vulnerability, 150 areas classified as medium, and 99 a low vulnerability. There are 51 city districts with no data event of disaster.
In disaster planning, said Sugeng, has formed the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction Indonesia (Indonesian PRB Planas).
This platform collects all stakeholders who act as advocate for disaster risk reduction at all levels. The institute is a forum for stakeholders to give input in disaster management.
